I made this EP with the intention of exploring the emotional space between stillness and
movement, inspired by ethereal electronic music. I focused on creating something kind of
atmospheric using wavetable synthesis and SPLICE plugins to build textures that feel airy,
immersive, and slightly surreal. Both tracks share the same drum pattern, but I experimented with different tempos to shift the emotional pacing of each piece. Keeping the same rhythm helped tie the EP together, while the tempo change created variation. The use of wavetable synthesis allowed me to shape evolving textures that enhance the ethereal quality of the sound. I also added guitar and string elements to contrast the digital sounds. The guitar brings a more human, emotional layer, while the strings help build
depth. I liked the balance between synthetic and organic sounds because it makes the tracks feel more alive. The cover I illustrated is inspired by Robert Valley's style. I tried to match the mood, it’s meant to feel kind of nostalgic, calm, but slightly distant. I named it Afterlight. It is meant to be another meaning for sunset, where there is still a glow after the
sun sets, and the city lights pass by when driving.
